CHURROS RECIPE WITH CHOCOLATE SAUCE

Making churros is so quick and easy that you’ll want to do it all the time. After they’ve been fried and chocolate-drizzled, they’re the ideal dessert.

WHAT IS A CHURRO?

Crunchy and sugary, a churro is a fried pastry snack. The recipe is originally from Spain and Portugal, but it is currently enjoyed by people worldwide.

HOW TO MAKE CHURROS RECIPE

Flour, water, and salt are the most common ingredients in churros. Sugar or cinnamon sugar is frequently sprinkled on top.

Typically, the churros dough is piped in long, straight lines, but it can also be shaped into circles or hearts.

The fried dough is rolled in sugar or cinnamon sugar after a brief dip in hot oil. There are many ways to enjoy homemade churros, but this is one of the best ways to eat them.

Several sauces go great with these! You can start with a few easy ones, such as:

  • Lightly sweetened cream cheese
  • Chocolate sauce
  • Strawberry sauce
  • Dulce de leche or caramel sauce

ARE THEY JUST FOR DESSERT?

This quick and straightforward churro recipe is excellent for breakfast, snacks, or a sweet treat.

Serving the pancakes with fruit preserves or peanut butter instead of syrupy dipping sauces in the morning. Serve them alongside a steaming drink of coffee or chocolate milk.

HOW DO YOU STORE THEM?

Prepare the dough before everything and store it at room temperature in an airtight container to save time. If you put it in an airtight container in the refrigerator, it will last for up to a day. Before piping and deep-frying the churros, let the dough come to room temperature.

The ideal way to eat homemade churros is directly out of the fryer when warm. If you have any leftovers, you can keep them for up to two days at room temperature in an airtight bag or container.

However, frozen churros will lose their crunch while defrosting, so bear that in mind when making them.

INGREDIENTS

CHURROS:

  • Vegetable cooking oil for frying
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour, sifted
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

CINNAMON SUGAR:

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar

CHOCOLATE SAUCE:

  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 3 1/2 oz. (100 g) milk chocolate, chopped

Instructions

  1. Make a sugar-cinnamon concoction. Set away for later use. Cover it with parchment paper.
  2. Using a medium saucepan, warm the water, sugar, salt, and butter until the butter is melted and smooth. Remove from heat and stir flour into the mixture until it is a smooth paste. Make a dough ball by vigorously stirring the flour with a wooden spoon. Make your cuts while the dough is still warm and malleable, but leave them alone for a few minutes so they can cool down. Use a large closed star tip on a large piping bag. Pipe the hearts onto the baking sheet with a small amount of dough from the pack.
  3. 375°F (190°C) is the ideal temperature for cooking using vegetable oil. To place the hearts in the oil, use a wooden spoon to lower them in (to keep the shape well). Flip with chopsticks till golden brown. Roll the churros in cinnamon sugar once they’ve been dried using kitchen towels.
  4. Cook the cream until it is about to boil, then add the chocolate chunks to form a rich, velvety, decadent chocolate sauce! The chocolate should be entirely melted by the time you’re done stirring. Spritz it on or dip it into the churros for an even better experience. Keep heated before serving.

Notes

  • Create a heart-shaped template out of parchment paper, and then use the pattern to pipe the churros into a heart shape.
