Basic Baby Porridge

Baby porridge is one of the most nutritious foods you can feed your child.

Since he was approximately five months old, I’ve been giving Baby G porridge. He likes porridge and eats it every day, twice a day. He eats up to 1.5 bowls of porridge every day! ‘

After introducing sweet potato puree to him for a few weeks, I began feeding him porridge. Because I know how much he enjoys sweet potatoes, I make my baby’s porridge with rice, sweet potatoes, and water.

Baby porridge can be used in a variety of ways. To be creative, you may swap out the sweet potato for various other root vegetables such as ordinary potato, carrot, pumpkin, butternut squash, or kabocha (also known as a Japanese pumpkin).

As a new parent, you need to be cautious about introducing your kid to fresh foods to not develop a food allergy. Try one ingredient at a time before moving on to the next.

My pediatrician advised me to add an egg yolk to Baby G’s diet once he was six months old because he doesn’t like formula. Consult your doctor before introducing your baby to egg whites because some babies are allergic to the whites.

I will provide the recipe for my premium baby porridge soon; it’s so excellent that I don’t even mind eating it myself.

What is the average number of calories in one serving?

  • Each serving of this recipe contains only 149 calories.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups water
  • 3-4 oz. (85 g – 115 g) sweet potato, cut into small pieces
  • 1 egg yolk, optional
  • 1/4 cup rice

Instructions

  1. Rinse the rice numerous times in cold water after placing it in a small pot. Add three cups of mineral water to the rice in place of the turbid water you just discarded. Mix in the sweet potatoes and bring the mixture to a boil.
  2. Simmer the rice for 45 minutes or until it’s totally broken down, then remove the saucepan from the heat and let it rest.
  3. Add the egg yolk to the cereal after it has been lightly beaten. Cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Puree the porridge in a blender or stick blender just before serving. Serve it at room temperature so that you don’t burn your infant.
