Tofu Stir-Fry

October 27, 2022

I named my tofu stir-fry after my niece since she used to ask for it every time she came to visit. When she comes over for dinner, she no longer needs to ask for it because it is now included in the dish. She grew up with the best foods from two truly fantastic eating worlds because she is part Chinese and her father is Jewish.

You should use this one. Now, whenever you want, you can do it yourself!

INGREDIENTS:

MARINADE:

  • 1 teaspoon of cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon of shaoxing wine
  • ½ teaspoon of light soy sauce
  • ½ teaspoon of sesame oil
  • 1/8 teaspoon of ground white pepper

REST OF THE DISH:

  • 1 1/2 cups of thinly sliced spiced tofu
  • 1 1/2 cups of thinly sliced long hot green peppers or bell peppers
  • 1 cup of thinly sliced celery
  • ½ cup of thinly sliced lean pork
  • 4 tablespoons of oil
  • 2 tablespoons of Shaoxing wine
  • 1 teaspoon of sesame oil
  • 1/8 teaspoon of ground white pepper
  • Salt

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. While preparing the other ingredients, combine the pork with the marinate ingredients and let settle for 15 minutes. Cut up the celery, peppers, and tofu.
  2. 1 tablespoon of oil is heated over high heat in the wok. For a few minutes, stir-fry the seasoned tofu until it starts to brown. Place aside.
  3. The peppers are stir-fried in a second tablespoon of hot oil for about a minute. Remove and reserve the dish. Do the same with the celery in the same manner.
  4. Adding another tablespoon of oil while the wok is still hot. Brown the marinated pork in a stir-fry. Then incorporate the celery, peppers, and cooked tofu.
  5. Add white pepper, 1 teaspoon of light soy sauce, 2 tablespoons of Shaoxing wine, 1 teaspoon of sesame oil, and salt to taste right away.
  6. Stir-fry everything together for a couple more minutes to ensure complete blending.
  7. Rice should be put on the plate.
