Chefs compete for the best biscuits and gravy recipe at Mellwood Art Center

Chefs went head to head for the best biscuits and gravy recipes helping children in the Louisville area.Hundreds of people came out to the Mellwood Art Center on Saturday to watch what is known as the “World’s Largest Biscuits and Gravy Competition.”The Gravy Cup hosted more than 30 amateur and professional chefs this year.Guests were able to sample the chefs’ biscuits and gravy and then vote for their favorite recipe. Proceeds from the competition went to the Boys and Girls Haven.”It’s a unique event what else are you doing on a cold Saturday morning than tasting some biscuits and gravy,” said Boys and Girls Haven CEO Amanda Masterson. “It allows us to raise money for our mission help us take care of kids in foster care and give outpatient behavioral counseling.”Traditional, non-traditional and vegetarian categories were all included in the Gravy Cup.This is the eleventh year for the fundraising event.
