Using your favorite dip as a topping for pizza is genius. That was my thought when I saw a recent Instagram post where Joy Bauer shared her . A creamy, yet nourishing dip can absolutely be the pizza topping you didn’t know you needed.

Bauer told me that her inspiration behind making this dish was her love of both pizza and spinach artichoke dip. By combining her favorite foods, she knew she could create something that felt fun and flavorful, but also nourishing. The dip has made an appearance in the past, showing up in her . It worked well in that recipe, so Bauer gave it a try on pizza and loved the results.

If you follow Bauer on social media, you know she likes delicious food. She’s made some pretty fantastic dishes that we regularly share, like her and her . But she steals our hearts because the delicious food she makes always has a nourishing touch. The pizza, for example, is packed with , vitamin C and potassium, thanks to the spinach and artichoke hearts. You’ll also get calcium and protein from the cheese and Greek yogurt.

It’s also a weeknight meal hero, says Joy, especially when you opt for a store-bought whole-grain pizza crust. If you can’t find one, Bauer suggests using whole grain English muffins or swap in a vegetable, like a portabella mushroom, to use as the “crust.”

How to Make Joy Bauer’s Spinach-Artichoke Dip Pizza

To make this , start by adding a package of thawed and drained frozen, chopped spinach to a bowl. Then, add a can of roughly chopped artichoke hearts to the spinach. Next, add ¾ cup grated Parmesan cheese followed by some scallions, a bit of garlic powder and ¾ cup of plain strained Greek-style yogurt. Then, season to taste with salt and black pepper. Spread the mixture evenly over a large prepared pizza crust and top with shredded mozzarella cheese. Bake at 400℉ for about 5 to 10 minutes until the cheese is melted and the top turns golden-brown (but Bauer notes that pizza crust brands can vary in cook time, so follow the instructions for the type that you have). Let cool slightly before serving.

If you love a delicious veggie-packed pizza, then give this Spinach Artichoke Dip version a try. It requires only a handful of ingredients, and comes together quickly, which means dinner can be ready in no time. And if you happen to have any extra dip, Bauer says, “use it for crudité for an afternoon snack!”
