The $12.99 Target Freezer Find I Stock up On for Weeknight Dinners

March 1, 2024

I’m not shy to admit that I lean on to feed my family when things feel dire as dinnertime approaches. Over 20 years, I’ve tried all sorts, including frozen , , , and . Recently, I tasted —the first time I’d ever tried frozen pulled pork. I didn’t think it would knock my mittens off, but it did. My whole family loved it so much that now I keep it stocked in my freezer.

The instructions for all Home Bake-brand frozen meals are on the title. Heat the oven to 425°F and cook for 30 minutes. It’s enough pulled pork to create a meal for my family of five when I serve it as part of a meal. (I have a ton of ideas below!) The pulled pork sits in a sweet BBQ sauce that has a tiny bit of heat.

The suggested retail price for this product is $12.99, which is a steal, but I’ve found it for $9.97. I stock up on a few packs then and keep it in my freezer for when the need arises.

Ideas for How To Serve Home Bake 425°/:30 Pulled Pork With BBQ Sauce

Heat a tray of pulled pork, and you can take so many directions for dinner. Here are a few ideas:

Sandwiches: Arguably the easiest and most delicious way to enjoy pulled pork. Toast the cut sides of your buns (hamburger, brioche, or potato buns) so that they don’t get soggy. Top with something sharp and tangy like pickles, , or , which will help balance the sweet sauce. Serve it with a giant pile of on the side or in the sandwich.

Serve with sides: There are the obvious ones like , , , and a pile of pickles. Any of the following would also be delicious: , , a refreshing , , or .

“Chili”: It’s not chili, but you can imagine that it is by serving it in a bowl and topping it with chopped onions, fresh cilantro, sliced radish, crumbled queso fresco, diced avocado, or whatever you typically like on your chili.

Tacos: Heat corn tortillas and fill them with pulled pork, sliced cabbage, pickled red onions, fresh or pickled jalapeños, and fresh cilantro.

Quesadillas: Lay a flour tortilla on a greased pan over medium-high heat. Sprinkle shredded cheese, like a Mexican-style blend, on top. Spread a few dollops of pulled pork, followed by more cheese and another tortilla. Cook both sides of the quesadilla until golden brown and the cheese is fully melted.

Grilled Cheese: Take a basic grilled cheese to the next level by adding pulled pork.

Pizza: Spread the pulled pork on a pizza crust and top with sliced jalapeños, red onions, (trust me on this one!), and shredded low-moisture mozzarella cheese. Bake until golden brown all around and the cheese is melted.

Burritos: Add pulled pork, rice, beans, and whatever else you typically like in your burritos on a large flour tortilla. After , I always toast all sides in a skillet to give the tortillas some crunch and more flavor.

Nachos: Sprinkle the pulled pork on top of your nachos. It’s an easy way to add both protein and flavor.
