omelettes are a universal breakfast dish across the world with various recipes out there to try.

While some are packed with leafy greens, mushrooms, and other vegetables, nothing beats a simple cheese omelette.

Sharing a , British chef said: “This is a great quick meal at any time of the day. Eggs are a fantastic, affordable source of protein, helping our muscles to grow and repair and helping us to feel fuller for longer.

“Serve your omelette with wholemeal bread and a simple tomato salad for a healthy, balanced meal.”

The dish takes a mere 10 minutes to cook and is naturally both gluten-free and vegan.

Method

Start by cracking both the eggs into a mixing bowl, then season with a pinch of sea salt and black pepper.

Beat them well until the whites and yolks are perfectly blended into a yellow-orange mixture, then set aside while heating a frying pan.

A small non-stick pan is best for this, just leave it over low heat for a few minutes to warm up.

Next, grate the cheese onto a board and set aside. Add half a tablespoon of oil to the hot pan, then carefully pour in the egg mixture.

As soon as the eggs go in, tilt the pan to spread them out evenly, using a fork to swirl the eggs around the pan a little.

Jamie said: “When the omelette begins to cook and firm up, but still has a little raw egg on top, sprinkle over the cheese.”

Use a spatula to ease around the edges of the omelette, then fold it over in half. When the underside turns golden brown, remove the pan from the heat and slide the omelette onto a plate.

The chef suggested: “Omelettes don’t always need to be folded in half with the filling inside, you can leave the omelette open and sprinkle over your favourite ingredients before finishing it under a hot grill until it’s bubbling and delicious.”
